The Course

2009 Brookhaven Bolt 5k and Kid's Fun Run occurs rain or shine on Saturday May 16th. Start times may be delayed slightly to allow for any inclement weather to pass. Please assume that the event will start on-time. An announcement will be made on-site at the start (Ashford Park Elementary School). Finish Festival in Ashford Memorial Park is TBD depending on the severity of the weather.

In support of Ashford Park Elementary School

The 2nd Annual Brookhaven Bolt presented by Brookhaven Self Storage is an exciting 5k run/walk/stroll throughout one of Atlanta's most beautiful neighborhoods: Ashford Park.

It's easy to register! Simply head to the sign-up page or any Big Peach Running Company store (www.bigpeachrunningco.com) to sign up. In addition, your $25 entry fee gets you a really cool Brookhaven Bolt T-Shirt. REMINDER: As of 5:00pm on 5/14, the registration fee increases to $30. Make sure you sign up as soon as you can.

All proceeds will be directed to the Ashford Park Elementary School.

  • 7:30am All Kids for the Kid's Fun Run must be on-site and checked in

  • 7:35am All Kids will receive their Kid's Run t-shirts. A group photo of all the kids will occur.

  • 7:45am START OF KID'S FUN RUN

  • 8:00am Runners/Walkers start

  • 8:05am Strollers Start

(Note: Kid's Fun Run will leave from the school. Adult Chaperons will run/walk with the kids to ensure that all of them safely and expeditiously complete the 1/2 mile course. The Kid's Fun Run course ends at Ashford Memorial Park. Brookhaven Bolt volunteers will constantly supervise all kids at the start, during and conclusion of the Kid's Fun Run. All kids will remain at Ashford Memorial Park in the playground area under constant adult supervision.)

Presented check to Ashford Park Elementary School for $19,000

Strong community support (steering committee composed of local residents with vested interest in success of event) Integration with local DeKalb County government to garner support

Established a charitable organization that directly impacts the Ashford Park community and benefits Ashford Park Elementary School

Created unique event property for community of Ashford Park that will showcase it’s “best face” in the years to come.

•Brookhaven Bolt Community Association, a 501(c)3 non-profit, plans and manages a the 2009 Brookhaven Bolt – a 5km, 3.1 mile mile run/walk throughout Ashford Park in Brookhaven.  Race starts at Ashford Park Elementary School and ends at Ashford Park.
